It has sadly, been awhile since my last post. I would love to say that in the time between posts, I have done nothing but hobby. Alas, that is not the case and I hate lying.
I have, however, managed a little bit of painting and a little bit of reading. That’s right, reading.
I dusted off my kindle and downloaded an ebook and 2 short stories from blacklibrary.com.
All 3 of which were based in the 40k universe and all 3 I really enjoyed. The short stories were great as they were nice and cheap (£1.50 for each) and didn’t take very long to finish. The short stories were:
Steel Blood and Blinded.
They’ve given me an impetus to try some more short stories (reading isn’t normally my thing).
I may have to look into black library’s digital Monday.
The ebook I read was Dark Vengeance, it’s the book that was released with the game. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have fallen completely into Games Workshop’s marketing trap – Read the book, want the game.
I know that Dark Angels and Chaos Space Marines are all the rage at the moment, but it’s not any of the new models that are coming out that have inspired me to join in; it’s this book.
Painting wise, I have finished my tester model for my Mentor Space Marines.
I’m quite pleased with the outcome.
My only issues are:
- even when I haven’t thinned the paint down, the white undercoat seems to come through. Whether this is due to my constant holding of the model while inspecting I don’t know. I haven’t noticed this with a black undercoat.
- Using 2 main colours seem to make painting take ages!
Let me know what you think.
